# Do I need to connect my Facebook account when creating a Facebook widget?

You are not required to connect your Facebook account when creating a Facebook widget. If you do not connect your Facebook account, here’s what will happen:

* Not connected - Your widget will sync every 24 hours.
* Connected - Your widget will sync every 1 hour.

Please note that Facebook sometimes disconnects your Facebook account to our system for security reasons which means you will have to reconnect your Facebook account again every few months.

If you want to connect your Facebook account, here's how:

> Some Facebook widgets (for example our Facebook hashtag feed) can’t connect to your account because they require you to enter a hashtag to retrieve posts.
